About Crocodile Wheelers

CROCODILE WHEELERS QUEENSLAND FORMATION

In the long distant past, April 1986 in Tweed Heads a couple called Erica and Don Whitworth actually commenced the CMCA formation and from this came the offspring which was called Chapters, then also along came Special Interest Groups or SIG's. Of the special interest groups the National 5th Wheelers were started on the16 march 2006 as many people had been making inquiries re the importation, building requirements, purchasing and state rules etc. From this the first 5th Wheel chapter was started being called The East Coast Wheelers [Australia Wide] with approx 50 members. Some members decided to still stay with the chapters they were already in but also became a member of National 5TH Wheelers Group.
As word got out through the Wanderer and word of mouth many new members joined as they found that through the exchange of information at the chapter meetings it helped and thus it grew rapidly. In Australia today there are many builders and importers, so one can only guess At the number of 5th wheelers being sold Australia Wide .There are some 1200 members owning 5th Wheelers in the CMCA at this point in time with aprox 800 of these in Queensland
alone. Each state and territory in Australia has different rules for registration, licensing etc, So it is the states and territories regulatory bodies that would be the first point of call before You purchase a 5th Wheeler and tow vehicle.
In February 2008 the numbers of the East Coast Wheelers had grown to the point that it was decided that maybe more chapters were needed so the formation of the The Garden State Wheelers in Victoria were started. As time went on more people asked if moves to start other Chapters would be formed and so in 2009 the formation of a couple of more chapters were in the air. One possibly in Western Australia and the other in Queensland " Beautiful One Day Perfect The Next " and yes on the Saturday the 7th February 2009 at the Pomona Showgrounds the chapter was started thanks to the fruitless time put in buy Michael and Margaret Holden
The meeting was Chaired by Michael Holden and Tony Schaper and so after some discussion and a number of names being presented it came down to a vote and hence the start of The Crocodile Wheelers Chapter was formed with the approval shortly after on the 9th February 2009 being given by the headquarters of the CMCA making it accepted as the 92 Chapter .
It was voted on at this meeting that our logo would be a crocodile with a 5th wheel hitched to it and that the colours for the chapter would be maroon and yellow.
The 5 qualifying 5th Wheelers needed under the CMCA requirements where made up with the members and there vehicles being Michael and Margaret Holden Q47481 Venture 630 5th Wheeler " The Cave " , Tony and Sue Schaper Q51588 Forest River Sandpiper 5th Wheeler

The chapter's aim is to be a welcoming group of people with a common interest to encourage new friendships travel and have plenty of fun with the " Old Crocs Laugh More Live Longer " attitude being adopted .

Queensland and "The Crocs"
A large portion of the East Coast of Australia is Queensland. Also known as the Sunshine State "Beautiful one day perfect the next"
Ranging from the Top most part of Qld. that being possibly Punson Bay on the Top Tip to Coolangatta in the Southeast and Camooweal out West.
It is one of the most Rapid growing states in Australia, with people migrating from interstate and overseas to live in this sunshine state.

Next Frazer Island is the largest sand mass island in the world which is situated off our northern end of the Sunshine Coast. To the Gympie Rattler rides daily and annual week long Music Muster Festival. To the famous Hervey Bay, where you can witness the wonderful migration of the whales when heading north at the start of winter to the warm waters to give birth then returning south for the summer months.
The start of the Heritage listed Barrier Reef is at Hervey Bay, leading all the way up to the top of Queensland.
With many more attractions namely, The Whitsunday Group of Islands of Airlie Beach to the tropical Magnetic Island of Townsville then onto Cairns and the Lush Daintree Rainforest north of Port Douglas leading into the hard ruff terrain all the way up to Bamaga.
